NEW PRINCIPAL FOR AES

The Ashland School Board, at a special meeting held May 10, 2012, elected Ms. Shannon Bartlett as Ashland Elementary School's new principal.  Ms. Bartlett will assume the position on July 1, 2012.  Ms. Bartlett succeeds Mr. Bill Tirone who has served in this capacity for twenty-five years.  Click here to read the official press release.

 

AES SPRING CONCERT5th band

Music Director Brendan Dowd and his talented groups of singers and musicians presented their annual Spring Concert on Thursday, May 17th, in the AES gymnasium.  The evening included performances by not only each elementary grade level, but also the Chorus, Middle School, Beginning Band, and faculty chorus.  Several students performed solos, duets, and other small group pieces.   Pictured to the right are a few 5th grade students accompanying the 4th and 5th graders' performance of "Boris the Spider"!

 

NEW SUPERINTENDENT FOR SAU 2

The SAU #2 School Board has announced the selection of the new Superintendent of Schools for the Inter-Lakes and Ashland School Districts.  Ms. Mary Ellen Ormond will succeed Dr. Phillip McCormack, who is retiring at the end of June.  For the official press release click here.

 

TIGER VISITS AES!

tiger2On April 6, 2012, the Plymouth State University TIGER Team performed an engaging series of skits on bullying and the Bystander for the students in grades 1-8. The students learned that the Bystander is responsible in a bullying situation to report to adults what is happening. The TIGER Team used humor, and song and dance to teach many ways to deal with bullying that may occur in the school and in the community. The students and the staff learned a lot of valuable information from this educational and entertaining program.

 

PSU STUDENT SHARES STUDY ABROAD EXPERIENCEwolf guest

Ashland Elementary School 7th Grade Social Studies classes were visited recently by Plymouth State Senior Lauren Bergeron as part of their study of Latin America. Ms. Bergeron returned from the country of Costa Rica where she spent a semester studying Spanish as part of her Plymouth State program.

NJHS INDUCTEES

On Thursday, April 12, 2012, Ashland Elementary School inducted new members to the NJHS inducteesschool’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.  Principal Bill Tirone addressed the parents, students, family members and friends concerning Character,  one of the priority characteristics needed for acceptance into NJHS, and its role in the success of students.  During the traditional Lighting Ceremony, eight new members were inducted, joining current members Sarah Chalmers, Julia Hatfield, Sophie Sanborn, and Myaah Swanson.
